Thank God for twitter, because he tweeted something about it, I followed his link (as I do so many other links that are offered up by twitter-mates throughout the day), read his post and instantly signed up to do something. I've never sung this particular song, but it seemed like a great choice when I realized that Judy Garland sang it heartbreakingly in Meet Me in St. Louis. I do love me some Judy Garland! So, I got the karaoke track online, sang it (about 10 times before getting it close to right), and while singing I kept thinking about all my blog friends and the fascinating, fun, amazing people that I met at BlogHer last July in Chicago.... the natural step was to put the song over a slide-show of all those friends (although, sadly, some of them I did not have pictures of) and look forward to us all being together again "if the fates allow" next year in NYC at BlogHer '10.
Go to Neil's site to see all the entries in this year's online concert and then peruse some of the old ones, too, as there is brilliance to be had in those old vids.
YouTube, in all it's random, hair-pullingly frustrating wisdom, pulled a picture of my dear friend Lee of MWOB (that's Moms Without Blogs) as the title picture. She was looking pretty amazing at that MamaPop Party, so I think it picked well, don't you?
Happy holidays to you and your families! I wish you all the best in 2010 and hope that we meet again or for the first time soon.
FYI: I've got yet another Furious Five misadventure to share with you all, but it probably won't be up until the weekend. I will pique your curiosity by telling you, only, that it involves the return of my traveling husband, airline screw-ups, three children in a car... and pee. Christmas season is in full swing and I will be hopping from one event to the next pretty much non-stop.
If you are interested in keeping tabs on my adventures (disastrous AND successful) in real time: take a moment to follow me on twitter. The party is always rocking over there, so be warned that you could get as addicted to it as I am.
Lovely is the best word to describe that performance! I saved it on my computer.
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful voice and I remember those good times like they happened yesterday. Happy holidays, Amy!
ReplyDeleteAs I like to think they may have said back in Judy's day, damn lady, you've got the chops! So well done! Hope you and all your boys enjoy a glorious Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI didn't think most people who could blog and tweet could sing also. Quite the trifecta.
ReplyDeleteI'm with The Mayor. But not only blog, tweet, and sing!! I would add rock a runway too!!! Is there anything you can't do? Will you please let us know?
ReplyDeleteYour voice is gorgeous...the sentiment was touching ...and well, I kinda even got a few BlogHer goosebumps.
You rock!
Lee
P.S. And geez - You Tube - give Ann the front card! She looks stunning in all of those pics!!
And Merry Christmas!!!

This was fantastic! I found Neil when I did the last round of the Great Interview Experiment. That he also did this concert thing is so awesome! Loved your video!
ReplyDeleteOh - that brought back so many memories! You did a great job except now I miss you so much I can hardly stand it. New York ... here we come! : )

ReplyDeleteI left you an award on my blog yesterday. Just cuz I happen to secretly love you. Shh! Don't tell the other kids, but you are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought, "hmm I never heard this version of Chrissie Hynde's version of this song?"
ReplyDeleteYou have such a beautiful voice!
I feel so left out! Can't believe I've been missing out on all of the fun!!
NYC here I come!!
Amy - you totally rock this tune. My cannoli is your cannoli.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, Amy. I had to re-read this post twice. You are singing? I am practically crying over here, this is so nice.
ReplyDeleteI am going to pretend that you sang this song just for me.
I LOVE this...except next year, I want in on the photos from BlogHer.
You are SO talented! You can write AND sing?! You have a beautiful voice. I think you should SING your blog posts from now on!! They would just be DOUBLY good! =D
ReplyDeleteThat just SO put me in the Christmas mood, thank you!
You have a very pretty voice! Love the video and the slide show!
ReplyDeleteIs that your lovely voice singing?
ReplyDeleteNicely done! And I forgive you for not using the nude boudoir shots you took of me privately that weekend.
ReplyDeleteMy Dad would say that you have star quality. Merry Christmas to you too!!
ReplyDeleteI may tape myself singing for the sheer pleasure of being able to sell it to security companies. It clears out rooms in no time at all.
