2012, Video Wrap-Up and House Survey

Someday in the distant future I might look back on 2012 with fondness—it is the year we settled in Southern Louisiana, after all. But right now I am still stuck on the overriding fact that it was the year we moved and moved and MOVED. Here's my video re-cap of the year that passed. Enjoy!

Because I was too lazy to edit them into the video, I thought you might like to see the houses we lived in this year, in sequential order.

Our house in Madison. 8/1998 — 3/2012.
Our first house in Louisiana. The Heaton House, between New Orleans & Lafayette. 2/2012 — currently for sale.

I didn't even mention the seven weeks that I stayed at our cottage in Iowa! (Long enough of a stay that I finally had a washer & dryer installed—both of which had to be brought in via a window on the second floor!)
6/5/2012 —7/26/2012
And now we live at the North Pole. 10/2012 — FOREVER.

    1. I'm saving Hawaii for a year less traveled than the last one. Maybe this'll be the year for CA, if nothing else! :)

  4. Moving sucks and to do it so much in one year....wow I don't know how you did it. I hope your other house sells soon. Love all your houses, you do have great taste. Cheers to being settled and enjoying your new town in 2013. We've been here 2 1/2 years now and it's weird here too and I haven't fully embraced it! I miss living in Europe!

  5. Holy crapola, girl. You are a wonder woman. No doubt.

Now…if it makes you feel any better (or it might make you ditch me as a bloggy friend) some of my favorite, absolute favorite people are from the Lafayette area. As you're well aware, it's a huge oil industry area, and most of my friends are in the oil industry.

And, I come there from time to time! So maybe, someday, we'll get to meet and I can introduce you to my crazy oilfield peeps!

  6. It is such a good thing for me to hear about your moving adventures since we have been in our current house for almost 6 years and that is the longest we've ever stayed anywhere. But I am still getting twitchy reading the real estate pages and pinning ideas to build again. Here's to 2013 and whatever it may bring to you and your boys from me and mine.

  9. It's been a culture shock for me and I moved here from TX. Just "next door"... ha! But yes, the people in this area are welcoming and fun and pretty great. You'll be eating crawfish and dancing to Zydeco in no time! ;)

And hope you can stay put now, that is A LOT of moving!
