This was our latest ladies' sojourn into town to celebrate two birthdays.

So, every time we have a big night out where everyone wants to have drink worry-free, Phil the mini-bus driver is called into action and we all pile in and out of the bus going to and from the restaurant or party. It ends up being about £10 per person, which is totally worth it and makes me wonder why I never thought about doing this at home!

So, ladies, take a page from the posh life of English villagers and make mini-van arrangements for all those nights out with the girls! I know I am.
In other news, my online life just intersected with my real life over here. Suddenly I am friends on facebook with a bunch of my new local friends and I am wondering how long it will take before they find my blog. Anonymity is not usually something I crave, but it is something I can appreciate.
Total blast. I'm a jealous guy. So, do they make you say things with your American accent and then laugh hysterically?
ReplyDeleteWait, you're on facebook?
Cheers,
SLC
Oh, how well I remember trying to keep up with those Brits, they put us North Americans to shame in the drinking and partying department. Although we do have our own Phil the mini bus drive right here in our little town. He has become a very close friend since we moved up;-)

Looks like a lot of bloddy fun. Good you all are not acting daft and getting the van. NICE work. You seem to be settling right in across the pod. Be well my friend.
ReplyDeletelooks like so much fun
ReplyDeleteIT'S ONE THING I MISS OVER HERE..THE AVAILABILITY OF MINI-BUSES AND EVEN RELIABLE TAXI'S FOR THAT MATTER..NOT TO METNION A GNO WHERE DRINKING IS ACTUALLY NOT FROWNED UPON!!
ReplyDeleteI am just now discovering the joys of girls night out. I'm hooked. It's definitely a habit I'm taking stateside.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the minibus vs dwi situation. It is so logical.
ReplyDeleteIf I could do it all over again, I'd have never driven after partying.
Secretia
It's true, British women have that art. Looks like a blast!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic idea.
ReplyDeleteAnd look?
NO FLEECE ANYWHERE.

p.s. should I get back together with facebook? let's discuss...
I love girls nights out. Some things about them are so universal. Like how inevitably, 90% of the group will wear black.
ReplyDeleteI'm diggin the bus idea! And I bet Phil has fun too, carting around all the hawt ladies. Did you all serenade him on the ride home?
ReplyDeleteIt's totally worth it-- my favorite thing about living in the city is being able to take a cab home so I can get as drunk as I want, haha
ReplyDeleteParty on....those Brit sure know how to have a good time! Mini bus is so worth it. Have a Happy Valentines Day!
ReplyDeleteUm, ditto to what Anonymous said.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love girls night out. It should be a law, no matter where you live.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day Pretty Lady!
ReplyDeleteAnn's getting back on FB? Woot!!!
ReplyDeleteI must confess, I didn't read your writing, I couldn't take my eyes off your fantastic pictures! What great, happy faces! They seemed to tell the story themselves!

That's it, I'm moving where you are, I don't care if it's in the countryside.
