I had great plans of showing you a montage of our trashed, all boxed up house, culminating with a photo of the sea container packed and getting sent down the road.... but I forgot my card reader and cables at the house. And Daddy-007's camera decided to not work at exactly the moment he remembered to take the photo of the packed container.
So I am giving you some good old-fashioned Americana goodness, instead:
We are blessed with having an ancestral summer home in the middle of the cornfields of Iowa. It is a small town (maybe a few thousand in population), on the shores of a lake, that embraces the all-American, small-town 4th of July extravaganza with the same gusto that . There will be a parade, barbecues, picnics, games for the kids, prizes and candy for all. Oh, and don't forget the carnival! I will be taking photos of the carnival as soon as my hubby gets up here and am looking forward to using some of my new skillz to get some great ones of the lights (and the carnies, too!).
Love the picture! The main thing I miss about living in USA is the holidays. Not celebrating the 4th the way we usually do is the hardest. Enjoy your small town celebration cause there is nothing better than that. Happy 4th!
ReplyDeletesounds great! Its good to live in a small town for occasions like this!
ReplyDeleteThat photo is just too cute!
There'll be none of that kind of activities over here, just warning you...
ReplyDeleteGreat picture! Enjoy the holiday weekend.
ReplyDeleteGosh, he looks like a more grown-up version of my grandson John. How Americana!
ReplyDeleteSoorry I missed your late birthday. . . but have a great and happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteGood old fashion fun...love it! And
ReplyDeletethey are adorable. Enjoy the rest of your time there.
Oh, I do miss the U.S. on July 4th. I always make fried chicken, but the rest of the atmosphere is lacking!
ReplyDeleteGreat messy face photo. Love those pink cheeks and tow-head.
Hope the packing went great (easy!) and that you get some true R&R at the lake before you cross the Atlantic. Thinking of you guys!!
ReplyDeleteNo idea why my name is "none" above, but it's from Sabrina :)
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling disturbed that Sabrina has been reduced to "none." Ouch.
ReplyDeleteDamn, 4th July? I guess I won't get any sense out of any Americans this weekend :))
July 4th is the best summer holiday-- The weather is perfect, the food great and it all ends with a bang!
ReplyDeleteENJOY
