The Freeze-Your-Face-Off Cold is Rotten:
We brought the family out to Memorial Union Terrace at the University of Wisconsin for ice cream after seeing the Statue of Liberty on Lake Mendota. And it was like Antarctica on the lake. I mean the wind was literally howling across the lake, it was about ten degrees below zero, and it was in the process of dumping about 8 inches of snow on us.
But wait. Statue of Liberty, you say?
The great sense of humor that can be found in these parts (look no further than The Onion) is evidenced every year after the lake freezes... by building what appears to be the Statue of Liberty sunken into the lake and frozen in.

Wow! It hasn't snowed in two decades where I live. And when it did snow, we all made a big whoop-dee-doo about a WHOLE INCH of snow.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I haven't lived, but that much snow and ice looks scary. I do like the Statue of Liberty though.
