Confession: Beyoncé Rocks My World and Other Tidbits

I have such a girl crush on Beyoncé right now.... And I am way too old for such shenanigans! But her voice is really just too beautiful. I am stuck on Halo, her newest single, but am still singing along to Put a Ring On It and If I were a Boy. I even bought the CD! I haven't bought an actual, physical CD in over a year!!

OK, that was just a prelude to multiple confessions and revelations. I am plowing through a list of 100 things about me (I know, I know! The egoism involved is legendary in such an endeavor.) But the Bitchin' Housewife must be heard. And accepted for all her faults, foibles, and fabulousity.

If you don't want to know all kinds of sordid and candid things (and you know I'm talking to YOU, family members): DO NOT READ THE BLOG TOMORROW. And for God's sake, if you are friends with a family member and read this blog: Do not email the sordid bits to my family, tattletale! (And, again, you KNOW who you are.) (Um, can you tell that I've had some bothersome encounters with family over this blog recently?)

I am also cooking up some kind of giveaway to celebrate the occasion, but haven't decided on anything yet. I was thinking of a gift card to MoMA because it is one of my favorite catalogs and after finally making it there this year, I can add it to my favorite places list, too. But, I also love technology, so maybe Best Buy. But that seems so generic! What about The New York Public Library? They have a great on-line shop. :) Or I could go local and get a gift card for Twigs or Bop, both Madison favorites.

Please leave comments with suggestions or ideas and feel free to let your friends know that I am cooking up a giveaway for Friday. I'll see if I can figure out how to make a button or something like that this afternoon and will post again. Now listen to this gorgeous song while you mull over your comments!

  1. Can I piggy back on your confession? I love Beyonce too. Not just her voice, I think she is one of the most beautiful entertainers today.

  3. I'm assuming you have "Sasha Fierce" (when you say you bought the CD). I LOVE it! I have so many secret music lusts. Too embarrassing to share as a 42-year old woman. (Kid Rock, Amy Winehouse, Beyonce, Mika... shhhh)

  4. I won't tell your family about your post, so you're good to go there.

As for the gift card? As long as they have an online shop, whatever you pick should be fine.

Ewww...I can't believe I started listening to Beyonce. I have to go scrub my ears now.

  7. Hey Amy,

What about dedicating a recipe to the winner with a cullinary gift certificate of some kind?

  11. Csqaured: Oh yeah, me, too! Plus Britney, Xtina, Pink,.... I'm like a top 40s dream. I just can't stop singing along! (And yes, I speak of Sasha Fierce, but I even paid for the single of her rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner from her gig the Super Bowl a few years ago!)

Heinous: Sorry to subject you to her overwrought pipes, dude. I tried to convert everyone I knew to Neko Case (who I suspect is more up your alley) but she doesn't have the star glow that Beyonce exudes (even though she's got an even more beautiful voice).

Kristina: I thought of you. So fierce!!

Liz: Yes, that she can have a sense of humor on top of everything else: what's not to love?!

Ann: Ooooh, I like your thinking! Sur La Table? Williams-Sonoma? Crate & Barrel? All great places and I'll have to think about that recipe....

Marla: Oh, great! Do I have to worry about you tattling on me, too?? ;-) (To your brother and SIL.)

5Strong: I'm still stuck on the singles, so I will expand my horizon and start listening to "Ego" immediately. And, hey, thanks for the props!!

KmcJoseph: Oh, you know it, brother. :^)

  14. carma: I think Sephora is the big winner here! I love their brushes....

Lori: I agree! Nothing can keep me from shaking it. I love Crazy in Love, too, for a good dance-around. And the video for Single Ladies has got to be one of the best dance videos ever.

  19. That girl has some major moves! I love to watch her dance.
My daughters LOVE Sephora! When we were in NYC last summer, we had to walk blocks and blocks so they could go there. And Gina works for ULTA and gets a super discount but she still loves Spehora.
